Others:
Isaiah 29:13 The Lord says:
"These people come near to me with their mouth
and honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
Their worship of me
is made up only of rules taught by men.
Jeremiah 5:31 The prophets prophesy lies,
the priests rule by their own authority,
and my people love it this way.
But what will you do in the end?
Jeremiah 14:14 Then the LORD said to me, "The prophets are prophesying lies
in my name. I have not sent them or appointed them or spoken to them. They
are prophesying to you false visions, divinations, idolatries and the
delusions of their own minds.
Jeremiah 23:16-17 This is what the LORD Almighty says:
"Do not listen to what the prophets are prophesying to you;
they fill you with false hopes.
They speak visions from their own minds,
not from the mouth of the LORD.
17 They keep saying to those who despise me,
'The LORD says: You will have peace.'
And to all who follow the stubbornness of their hearts
they say, 'No harm will come to you.'
Hosea 4:7 The more the priests increased,
the more they sinned against me;
they exchanged their Glory for something disgraceful.
Micah 2:11 If a liar and deceiver comes and says,
`I will prophesy for you plenty of wine and beer,'
he would be just the prophet for this people!
Matthew 7:15-16 "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's
clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16By their fruit you will
recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from
thistles?
Matthew 24:4-5 Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. 5For
many will come in my name, claiming, `I am the Christ,' and will deceive
many.
Matthew 24:11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.
Matthew 24:24 For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform
great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect-if that were possible.
Mark 13:5-6 Jesus said to them: "Watch out that no one deceives you. 6Many
will come in my name, claiming, `I am he,' and will deceive many.
Acts 20:29-30 I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among
you and will not spare the flock. 30Even from your own number men will arise
and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them.
Romans 16:17-19 I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause
divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you
have learned. Keep away from them. 18For such people are not serving our Lord
Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the
minds of naive people. 19Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I am
full of joy over you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and
innocent about what is evil.
2 Corinthians 2:17 Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for
profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, like
men sent from God.
2 Corinthians 11:13-15 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen,
masquerading as apostles of Christ. 14And no wonder, for Satan himself
masquerades as an angel of light. 15It is not surprising, then, if his
servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what
their actions deserve.
Galatians 1:6-9 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one
who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel--
7which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you
into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8But even if
we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we
preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! 9As we have already said, so
now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you
accepted, let him be eternally condemned!
Galatians 2:4 This matter arose because some false brothers had infiltrated
our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us
slaves.
Ephesians 4:14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by
the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the
cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.
Colossians 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and
deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic
principles of this world rather than on Christ.
Colossians 2:18-19 Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the
worship of angels disqualify you for the prize. Such a person goes into great
detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with
idle notions. 19He has lost connection with the Head, from whom the whole
body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God
causes it to grow.
1 Thessalonians 5:21 Test everything. Hold on to the good.
1 Timothy 4:1-2 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will
abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
2Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been
seared as with a hot iron.
2 Timothy 3:13 while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse,
deceiving and being deceived.
2 Peter 2:1-3 But there were also false prophets among the people, just as
there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce
destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought
them--bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2Many will follow their
shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. 3In their greed
these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their
condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not
been sleeping.
2 Peter 3:3-4 First of all, you must understand that in the last days
scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4They will
say, "Where is this `coming' he promised? Ever since our fathers died,
everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation."
2 Peter 3:17 Therefore, dear friends, since you already know this, be on
your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men
and fall from your secure position.
1 John 4:1-3 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits
to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out
into the world. 2This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every
spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
3but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is
the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is
already in the world.
2 John 1:7 Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in
the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and
the antichrist.
Jude 1:3-4 Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the
salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the
faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. 4For certain men whose
condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you.
They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for
immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.
Jude 1:12 These men are blemishes at your love feasts, eating with you
without the slightest qualm--shepherds who feed only themselves. They are
clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and
uprooted--twice dead.
Jude 1:17-19 But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus
Christ foretold. 18They said to you, "In the last times there will be
scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires." 19These are the men who
divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.
Rev 2:2 I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that
you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be
apostles but are not, and have found them false.
