PASTOR’S WELCOME

As Pastor of Brandon Presbyterian Church and speaking on behalf of
our Session, Congregation and Staff, let me welcome each of you to our website by extending a personal message of greetings to you and expressing our gratitude for your interest in Brandon Presbyterian Church!  I invite you to get to know us and our Savior as you explore the various aspects of our mission, ministries and membership here on the Web, and then I invite you to come and join us in person, that we might extend the love of God to you in Christ Jesus and that we might participate together in worship, service and fellowship in His name.

Brandon Presbyterian Church (PCA) is an established church of approximately 150 years that possesses both rich spiritual heritage and a sharp sense of vision and direction for the future.  Standing upon an absolute commitment to keeping Christ central, to standing upon the Holy Scripture as our foundation and guide, and to following the Great Commission as our charge, we come together in community and strive together in faith to adorn the gospel ourselves, to communicate the gospel to others, and  to carry the torch of the gospel to future generations.  With our roots firmly established in the historic Apostolic Faith and building upon the legacy of the faithful who have served under the banner of the Reformed Faith, we now consider ourselves the next generation of witnesses responsible for forging the way into the future along with our fellow believers, by upholding Biblical Christianity thru the proclamation, attestation and representation of God’s Word.  We consider ourselves both Reformed and in constant need of reform according to God’s Word, so whether it be in our personal lives, the lives of our family members and friends, our community, the culture, or the world around us, we seek to make the most of every opportunity for Christ, that God may be exalted and His name magnified, that the world may be transformed, and that His people may be made holy.

We believe man can know both God and salvation through God’s own self-revealed and self-revealing Word, the Bible.  The Bible tells us salvation cannot be earned by the works of men but must be received completely as a gift from God through faith in the substitutionary and atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary, where he suffered and bore the wrath and curse of God for the sins of his people and merited their salvation through his own righteousness which is given to them thru union with him, that they, having been reconciled to God through the forgiveness of their sins and adopted as his children through the ministry of his spirit, do both now possess eternal life and take part in the inheritance of the saints, including fellowship with God, communion with other believers, sanctification through his grace, and dominion within his kingdom.

At the same time we believe God’s plan of redemption is far greater than our own salvation, that the benefits of his salvation are far greater than our minds can presently conceive, and that the reach of his redemptive work will be far greater than most will ever know.   We also believe His marvelous love, mercy, forgiveness, and grace are well within the grasp of all who will come and bow down and receive him, trusting him to be who he claims to be and able to accomplish all he claims we need done, such that the recipients of his love are moved to fully and freely cast themselves upon him, repenting of their sins and looking to him alone in faith as the sole provider, producer, and perfecter of their salvation.  It is for this reason, God alone - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - are to be worshipped, served and proclaimed with the gratitude of our souls and the sacrifice of our being.

Those who come to visit Brandon Presbyterian Church are usually initially moved most by the beauty of the building and grounds, but soon find that it is the warmth, friendliness and acceptance of our congregation they find to be so appealing and fulfilling.  Once our worship begins, there is an overwhelming expectancy of God filling our sanctuary and lives with his living and majestic and life transforming presence and power, which is experienced throughout our worship, including the height of our worship, as the Bread of Life, God’s own word, is opened and broken before us, being faithfully explained and relevantly applied to our lives both through the preaching of God’s Word and through the administration of his Sacraments.  We are moved in our corporate, family and personal worship by the love of Christ in us, and it is this love that drives the remaining ministries of our church as we seek to glorify God and serve others in conformity with His Word, such that our members are nurtured, our guests are fed, and our desire to know and love Christ continues to grow.

When asked if Brandon Presbyterian Church is “ALIVE”, my response is always emphatic as I encourage others to come and experience for themselves the rich enthusiasm, the warmth and spiritual depth of this great church, to see that this fellowship is not only alive, but doing well!  Won’t YOU come and be our guest, and I can assure you, you’ll be immeasurably blessed, forever changed, and eternally rewarded as a result of finding and becoming a part of this growing congregation and fellowship that lives and moves and has its being in Christ!  I look forward to meeting you personally, to serving you as I have opportunity, and to participating together in this great kingdom of our reigning Lord.

May grace, mercy and peace be abundantly yours in Christ,

Rev. Timothy G. Muse

About The Pastor

Rev. Muse is one of five sons born to Thomas Gordon and Jean Brown Muse, who reared their children in the Presbyterian Church in the love and admonition of the Lord.  It was through the combination of teaching that he received both at home and in the church that Rev. Muse came to a knowledge of God and of himself, a knowledge which eventually led him to a saving relationship with God through faith in the substitutionary death and resurrection of Christ.  Upon receiving the grace offered in the gospel, he repented of his sins, put his whole trust in the righteousness and atoning work of Christ, and now lives to serve the one through whom he has received eternal life, the Lord Jesus Christ.  The Lord has equipped him well for service in the ministry through education, as well as many life experiences.  He has served as an intern of Raymond Presbyterian Church and as an Associate Pastor of First Presbyterian Church (Kosciusko).  He comes to us with a wonderful family of whom he is most proud, his wife Paige, his daughter Morgan, his sons Mark, Michael, and Matthew.
