The
good news of eternal Life
GOD, the creator of
the universe has revealed in his word (The Holy Bible) certain attributes
about himself. He is a God of
truth, holiness, faithfulness, and love to name a few.
1
John 4:8
………. because God is love.
Lamentations 3:22-23
Because
of the LORD's great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
23They are new
every morning; great is your faithfulness.
John
17:17 Sanctify
them by the truth; your word is truth.
Psalms 99:9 Exalt
the LORD our God
and worship at his holy mountain,
for the LORD our God is holy.
He
is also a God of justice and says that he will punish sin!
Romans
6:23 For the wages
of sin is death,……………..
2 Thess
1:8-9 He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the
gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9They will be punished with everlasting
destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty
of his power
His
word also tells that we are all sinners………..
Romans 3:10 As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one;
Romans 3:23 for all have
sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can
understand it?
And because of this man
cannot save himself!
Luke
18:26-27 Those who heard this asked, “Who then can be saved?”
27Jesus
replied, “What is impossible with men is possible with God.”
What
great fantastic news--- God can save and does with his amazing GRACE!
Amazing, because eternal life (heaven) is a free gift from God!
Romans
6:23 For the wages of sin
is death, but
the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
This gift is not earned
or deserved by our good works……..
Ephesians
2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not
from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- 9not by works, so that
no one can boast.
But
what about our sin that GOD must punish? God solved this problem in the person of Jesus Christ his
only begotten son! Jesus was
and is fully God and fully man. Jesus
solved this problem for us by dying on the cross to pay the penalty for our
sin!
Ephesians
1:7
In him we have
redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with
the riches of God's grace
Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates his
own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
2 Corinthians 5:21
God
made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the
righteousness of God.
He then rose from the dead and went
to prepare a place for us in heaven which he offers to us as a free gift!
John 14:2 In
my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told
you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.
This
free gift is received by faith!
Gal 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer
live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith
in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
John
6:47 I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life.
Romans
5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
A true saving faith means trusting
in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life which will result in a new outlook
and attitude in your life………….
2 Cor 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in
Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
This new attitude is also from God
and will enable you to do good deeds and works, not to earn eternal life,
but out of gratitude to God and a desire to please and obey him.
Col 1:10
And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the
Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work,
growing in the knowledge of God,
